Back from 5 days of OBS.

Ok.. i have nothing to comment about it.

But it did indeed remind me to update my wishlist.

As you can see from my 2009 wishlist at the side, I'm glad that I have achieved nearly all, but 4 of them.

1. Thankful that I've done the 12 of them!

2. Reflect on why I have not done the rest.

a. Class 3 Driving license ===> I've failed 3 times TP. How's that? But I'm not gonna give up!

b. Taiwan ===> Could have been there. Had a free ticket along with accomodation covered that was in June. But I really budget tight so i forgone the trip. Stupid right?

c. NDP 09 ===> Singapore Red Cross has its medical team full. No choice.

d. Singapore Youth Olympics 2010 ===> Will be in England.

And this makes me pretty happy with my achievements.

And so, to celebrate my success, I have generated a 2010 wishlist!!!

Hope I have the strength and courage to conquer them!

Ok. Many random updates.

1. Scholarship matters...

I'm going for my MOH Health Science scholarship final interview in 12 hours time. If I succeed in getting it, I will be flying to UK in Aug this year for my course. By the way, I'm proud and happy to say that I have received acceptance offer by 4 UK Uni so far, namely - University of Southampton, East London, Brighton, and Salford, for the course of Bachelor in Podiatry.

Do I hope to be there for 3 years? Yes I do.

I've kinda grown to like travelling more than spending time with friends. The memories and experiences of backpacking is beautiful and permanent in your memories. I've kinda realise how shallow friendships can be, no matter how much time and years spent together, and you really cannot expect to seek permanence in it.

The person who loves you the most is yourself.

2. Work issue....

Ok. I'm not holding on a full-time employment. My main source of income has been flowing in from different sources.

I. Tuition. That's a large chunk of it.

II. Pfizer guinea pig.

III. Reservist $$$.

IV. I'm setting up a drink stall at a carnival next month. Do come down to support.

V. I'm also trying to tie down with a Diving company and another Windsurfing/ Sailing company to do a roadshow at a event next month. I hope its a deal. =)

VI. Sad to say, I terminated my business deal with the Belgium textile trading company. *sob*

VII. I hoping to assist in helping a Diving Studio in their Malaysia road show in July, which I will be paid for the event-managment service.

3. Upcoming travels..

Since I've fallen in love with outdoor activities and backing, I've similarly found friends who have decided to join me in our quest.

As of this year, I have completed the following places..

I. Hong Kong - China

II. Macau - China

III. Lop Buri - Thailand

IV. Bangkok - Thailand

V. Johor - Malaysia

VI. Jakarta - Indonesia

And honestly I really experienced a whole lot of different experience, spoke different languages, lived different lifestyle, and travelled in exotic non-mainstream transportations. Also knew more local people, slept from outfield tents, slums, guestrooms, and hotels...

I guess Thailand is the place I hope to re-visit the most. Haha.

Anyway, upcoming places you can spot me in include...

I. Johor - Malaysia [Train ride journey]

II. Batam - Indonesia [Commodore's Cup Golf Challenge 2009]

III. Muar - Malaysia [Conquer the 1.2km Mount Ophir! I'm exploring the heaven's this time! ]

IV. Pulau Tioman - Malaysia [Basic Open Water Dive Course...yea I'm exploring the marine world!]

VI. Kota Kinabalu - Malaysia [Conquer the 4.1km Mount Kinabalu! 5th tallest mountain in South-east Asia!]

VII. If I'm lucky, Zhicheng may sponsor me a trip to HK, or Yu Siang may sponsor me to Jakarta. =)

VIII. England - United Kingdom. [3 years travel - If I clinch my scholarship!]

4. Relationship matters..

I kinda realise that I am a very Zhuan Yi (faithful) person.

21 years of my life and I'm not attached.

Jin Yuan says I'm just picky.. but I don't think so.

I have a few people who I like, and we became very very good friends but never together.

The next line in bracket is kinda shameless but i dun give a damn.

(I do have a number of suitors all along, but I can't imagine myself loving them as much as the ones I LIKE. I.E I only want to go into a relationship with someone I like. This has made me single for 21 years)

I don't know if that is Picky, or is it just the RIGHT THING to do - to commit yourself into someone you love.

Of course for those people who knows my recent happenings, I am still hoping to be with E A (aka C). I'll just hope for miracles while moving on with my nomadic/ gypsy life.

Jakarta Day 2

Ooo.. Here I am blogging from...

Trisakti University

Supposedly the best and most ex university in entire Indonesia. oh well.

As previously mentioned, I'm on backpacking trip in Indonesia.

So wad's my definition of backpacking tt separates a backpacker from a tourist??

Backpacking is budget travel, with the centre focus more on living with the locals, speaking their language, eating their food, living their lifestyle for a period of time. Main point is about cultural immersion.

Tourist is travelling with the centre of focus on enjoying the place. May u stay in a 5star hotel, eat international buffet breakfast by the hotel, go to disneyland and other grand places for shopping. Wow~ Shiok.

But i juz love backpacking.

Been there done that!

On day 2 of backpacking, I...

1. Weaved a ketupat at a old wet market.

2. Had breakfast at a push-cart roadside stall.

3. Rode on a Bajaj (Bah--jai)... for quite a few times coz we rushing for time.

4. Bargained and got a laptop cooler at RP60,000 ($8.40)... Singapore is selling at $25.

5. Watched a big fashion show event.. with Miss indonesia and other influential wives of ministers as VIP. Trust me.. Indonesia fashion is very culturally chio.. nth of the western fashion.

6. Tried my first Long Island Tea at Batavia Cafe... supposedly one of the most atas place in entire Jakarta.

7. Explored more than 6 hotels for fun. Many of them seriously have very lux design.

8. Went for breakfast on 3rd day with Fickry, only to realise their idea of breakfast is Green Bean Soup.

9. A small shopping centre means something 2 times the land size of causeway point but 6 storey high, with an Ice-skating rink 3 times size of Fuji ice palace.

10. A big shopping centre means something 2 times land area of vivo but 8 storey high. We requested Fickry to bring us to a BIG shopping centre. Guess wad? We din manage to complete the mall after 4 hours of walking.

Jakarta Backpacking Trip Day 3

As the title goess...

JAKARTA BACKPACKING TRIP DAY 3.

1. Had special indonesian breakfast...can't describe it.

2. Went to Taman Aggrek (correct spelling? meaning Orchid Garden) Mall.

3. Went Mac, and saw caramel McFlurry and Coffee McFlurry @ S$1 each, so I bought both.

4. Trust me, McDonald in Indonesia is selling mainly FRIED CHICKEN and RICE and Spagetti. Calvin (Xiao Bai) bought the spegetti...@ S$0.80.

5. Went to A&W and had Fried Chicken and Root Beer float. Comes with rice too...

6. Standard bus fare with unlimited transit..is $0.50.

7. Went to Taman Mini Indonesia (aka Indonesian mini garden). Guess wad? They replicated the entire Indonesia's provinces and culture and houses etc into this very very big attraction. This means by visiting the attraction, you will see the entire indonesia.

8. Since the attraction is so big, primary mode of transport in the attraction is Cable Car, Skytrain, Taxi, Motorcycle, and Bicycle. Can imagine how big it is? Entire indonesia mini replica!

NOw this is the highlight!

9. Initially, we rented 3 bicycle to explore the park.

10. 30mins later, i returned the bike, to rent a Motorcycle instead. No, I dun like and I'm not using a helmet. I dun have a indonesia riding license...but who cares. Calvin and Fickry cycled on.

11. Calvin decides to rent a motorcycle too.

12. Yes, he has NEVER ride a motorcycle in his life before. And yes, he is also not using a helmet.

13. He survived the entire motorcycle journey. No injury.

14. Aka we rode a bike in Indonesia Jakarta without license and helmet for over an hour. Remember, it is Calvin's first time operating a Motorbike.

15. Been there done that!

16. Took a cab to Riz-Carlton Jakarta, a 6-star hotel.

17. Had its International Buffer Dinner...at $33 nett each..which is freaking cheap. Food is good and so many varieties...we probably tried onli 1/2 of the total number of choices before giving up.

18. Besides the Buffet dinner...i spent a total of $67 in my first 3 days. Freaking cheap!

Wooooahhh!

More random notes.

About my Jakarta backpacking trip with Calvin.

1. I am Blogging right LIVE from Fickry's 'hostel'...yea me and calvin are staying there.

2. I am living now with 14 indonesians...which makes it really a cultural immersion.

3. Trust me..they are amazed are Singapore's Fine and Fine and Fine for everything.

4. We had yellow rice set meal x 3 person..it cost only 5000 rupiah each person... which is mebbe 70cents?

5. Oh ya I'm a millionaire right now!!!

6. Our air ticket is onli $110... 2 way. We booked on Sunday 12am..and left on Monday 4.30pm. Cool rite?

7. Plus luggage fee plus usage of credit card.. each person tix is $140.

8. We took a taxi-scooter..similar to Thailand's toot-toot.... its called a Bajaj.

9. We are going to Trisakti University later! Fickry is having exam...while we will visit the campus. Gonna chiong the Faculty of Medicine!

10. Fickry wanted to show us the real extremes of Jakarta - poverty and wealth.

11. Therefore, as part of the poverty aspect... we had the poor-people food for breakfast.. refer to Poingt #4.

12. We also went to the fresh market.. where the common people shop. It's like the old chinatown wet market liddat.

13. We were at this Ketupat stall...and was invited to make a Ketupat under the master's guidance. Obviously I'm too dumb...and need hell lot of the guidance.

14. We slept for 2 hours yesterday night.

15. 6.00 am here means Sunshine everywhere.. equivalent to our 7.20am.

That's for my backpacking Day 1!

Ok. As part of my Ex Cope Tiger, I was involve in this social work with the Thai local community.

Trust me, it has definitely added a whole lot of meaning to my NS life and vocation.

So in the social work we provided the thai villages with medical and dental care, hair cut, school bags, and also 3 new desktops and printers. =D

Organized in one of the primary schools there, it was interesting to see villagers and monks from all over coming down to school to report sick.

Trust me, it was really fun working in the presence of our language barrier!

A random story

Once upon a time, there was a pretty dumb frog in a well.

It had everything that he ever need..

It drank the clearest water from the well,
It ate the tastiest flies from the well too.
It watched the sun rise, and watch it set.
The frog was by itself, but not alone.
It has never had another frog in the well. (Thus it does not know lust, love, insecurity, etc)
It had felt whole and complete by itself for its entire life.

Then one day a super clever dog came past the well.
Seeing that the dumb frog has never seen so much things, it decided to bring the frog out of the well.
"Why not give it a try?" the clever dog said.

Now being a little tempted, the dumb frog decided to have a shot at the outside world.

Together they've been to many places.

Seeing a giant Frog statue..
Went to a giant flies market selling alot of tastier flies..
drank water from everywhere that tastes better..
When the frog is tired, it sat on the dog while it walks.
When the dog is tired, it sleep peacefully by the road while the frog guards it.

One day the dog suddenly left, and the frog was left to return to its well.

The water from the well is no longer the best water ever.
The flies from the well is no longer the tastiest ever.
The sun continues to rise, and then set.
It never had another frog in the well, but it felt love from the dog.
The frog now knows loneliness, insecurity, and love etc.

And now the frog continues to seat inside the well..
it is by itself, but now alone..
and no longer feel whole and complete by itself.

Here I am blogging from my Medical Post in outfield. (I brought my trusty laptop along to Ex Cope Tiger so I'm connecting via its satellite wireless).

I AM IN THAILANNNDDD!

Bla bla bla.

I've got like 700 photos from Hong Kong to upload (if i want to) and now Im having another godzillian batch of photos from Thailand. That's really a lot.

Hong Kong was real fun and we got ourselves plenty of real quality clothings, shoes, biscuits etc.
Macau was also incredible, especially the visit to a real casino.

For those who havent been to one, we probably think its like a shop, or arcade or bigger.
But HELL NOOOOO!!!!!!!

It's like the Funan IT Mall, all filled with gambling tables etc.
Oh well.

Anyway, as of Sat night, I've already been in Thailand for 5 Days 5 Nights and I'm enjoying every moment of it!

The food is cheap and good, and people are nice, the company is great, and above all, this is a PAID "HOLIDAY" for me!!!!

(I'm paid nearly 3k for this 19days overseas trip worx... super shiok la)

Meanwhile I shall upload some photos of the past 4 days 4 nights la.

The people in Thailand are really open and accepting of people.

Met up with Shiying on Tues afternoon since i happen to be around SMU, and she studies there.

So me, plus her and her 3 other friends were eating together.

I went, "Hey shiying, u noe ar....(fill in some random topic)..."

And her friends were like, "Shiying! You are called Shi Ying!?..."

Apparently she is now known officially as Karin.
I was like, "Omg! U officially call yourself Karin?"
Shi Ying went, "Hey! It's in my IC lor. U wanna see!?"

Honestly, i dun understand why many people are officially registering some christian names into their NRIC.

Very cool meh??

I, instead, is trying desperately to go through legal channel to strike off 'Henry' from my name.

Of coz i will still recognize that as my name, but i would prefer not having them immortalized in ur offical NRIC name, so that i can change them whenever i want.

Ok u see, if i have it strike off, i seriously can have multiple names.

Long time no post.

Was too lazy to post mainly due to my ubberly lag comp and the lack of motivation to.

wootx. Its been the 6th consecutive year that we have been celebrating Shi Wei's birthday, which falls on 30th Sept. This year we celebrated on the 1st Dec, with no big surprises. Just a small celebration at Vivocity, with our plans to Sentosa spoilt due to Hari Raya and the unbelievable number of Banglas queueing to go Sentosa too.

Anyway, after volunteering his arm for IV infusion, and losing alot of blood, he EARNED a half day off, and me and jk only know about it super late.

We decided to immediately snipe him before he books in.
JK armed with a Donut from his student's house (he was giving tuition), and me armed with some random small Doraemon cake, we sneaked to his house, and surprise.

Entire command had games during morning, and half day OFF in the afternoon.

Friday PM - NDP Appreciation Dinner at HQMC Officers' Mess
It's been really long time since we NDP folks meet up.
Yea as expected, great food, great drinks, free flow of beer, which I avoided.
Received our certificate of Appreciation, and watched as the NDP medical team video was displayed. NDP has definitely been a memorable experience.

Also also also, we were given 2 tickets (worth $56) of the Singapore Fireworks Celebration as appreciation for our participation in NDP 08. And guess wad? The show supposedly starts in 4hrs, from the time i received the ticket.

And thus, another eventful journey unfolds.

Went with Li Mei to Fireworks celebration.
Seating in the gallery, watching the night scenes of singapore, sipping Coco Loco, and Chocolate Mint chillers from Gloria Jeans, watching the performance was really great feeling. The cooling weather after the afternoon rain certainly has enhanced the show experience.

Trust me, the fireworks show for the night, choreographed by the French contingency, is definitely the nicest fireworks show in my life.
Today (sat) there'll be one last show, choreographed by the Korea contingency.

Phew.
Can't explain why I just love such medical coverage for such major events.

SAF NDP Medical team had another round of Mass casualty exercise on 310708, Thursday.

This time, i had the luxury to escape from medical centre once again to participate in NDP and havoc with NDP friends.

All of us had POPEYE's - the chicken fast-food restaurant at Singapore Flyer.
Phew... it's Mash Potatoes is holy undefeatable. Even Aloysius can't stop eating it. Hoo
Had the Fish Fillet set, and i really thought its fish fillets were super nice - for its freshness, tenderness, and its light taste.

As usual, when we got bored, all of us NSFs will start cam-whoring. Yea. I think nowhere in Singapore can anyone find a combination of soldiers who enjoys cam-whoring as much as we do.
And trust me, we cam-whore, and we do them WELL.

Bad drivers are hard to come by, and I have to meet TWO of them in one month. Dammit.
And both times are after NDP. Grr...

Scenario 1
Me and aloy alvin wen xiang they all sharing cab to go home after NDP, going to a total of 4 places.

"Uncle, can you drop me at Yishun MRT first, den later we going Tampines, Tanah Merah, den Changi?"

"NO CANNOT. Just now you book cab you say going THREE places, not FOUR places."

Fooking Driver subsequently drove towards Tampines, skipping my Yishun MRT stop WITHOUT TELLING ME!

Kill me.

Scenario 2
Just yesterday...Sat night.

Was cabbing home from Sembawang Airbase.

Loosely translated into English.

"Boy ar, do you smoke?"
"No" I replied
"Wah lao eh. You are a soldier and a man. How can you don't smoke? SAF never teach you meh?"

Driver subsequently drove me to some ULUUUUU place, and ask me to GET DOWN TO HELP HIM BUY buy Cigarettes, while my fare metre continues ticking.

1. Hello? I'm on my fooking way home at 12am and you are driving me to some ulu place, just to satisfy your cigarette crave which I DON"T GIVE A DAMN?

2. It costs $10.20, but he gave me only $10. When I told him its $10.20, he replied saying some places selling $9.90, and subsequently ignored my $0.20.

3. I am the customer. Not your cigarette side-kick. Can't you get down yourself to buy?

4. My fare continues ticking while i buy for him. Kill me.

I thought that was the end, until he started opening the windows, and drove at possibly 30km/h??? and started smoking and driving at the same time, and coughing at a intervals of possibly every 30secs.

Also, he started reciting of how the minister Dr. Phillip Yeo was saying how Singapore don't want just Studying Scholars, but Social Scholars..meaning scholars who know how to entertain and socialize with others. And how I should be smoking.

Next, he went Hor-land (whicheva way u spell it) and started droving me rounds in woodlands, until i had to direct him the way.

When I finally reached my house there, the uncle forced a cigarette into my hands.

"Boy ar! Uncle give you one. I want to see you smoke. You don't smoke you cannot go."

WTFFFFFFFFF?????

I had to reject at least 5 times, but still cannot succeed.
I had to change topics frequenly, and finally succeeded.

1. "Uncle ar. I help you light a cigarette. Nah." And subsequently handed my cigarette to him and help him light.

2. "Uncle ar. You have been coughing a lot throughout the trip. I am a Medic. Let me examine for you. You open your mouth and say aHHH!!"
After which I was greeted with two SEVERELY inflammed tonsils, aka Tonsillitis. Adviced him to go seek professional physician advice.

Ola! Got off the cab, with two times the supposed travelling time, and a cab fare of $15 (by right should only be $10), two disgusting images of inflammed tonsils, $0.20 kena eaten by his cigarettes trip, and a bad and unpleasant experience.

The SAF NDP Medical Support Team

For NDP this year, we are having 7 medical posts, each equipped with 2 MO, 2 SM, 10 Medics, 2 Para-counselors, and 1 ambulance driver.

Medical Post 4 is the medical post representing the Republic of Singapore Air Force.
We're deployed at some place that is considered both super cui and super lucky.

Why lucky?
- We are beside the Mobile Old Chang Kee, Mobile Milo, and near the Mobile Mr. Bean. This means we get to enjoy free flow unlimited amount of OCK, Mr. Bean soymilk, and Milo.

Why cui?
We don't get to see much of the NDP performances, don't get many patients, and our area of deployment is more like a construction site. Kill me..

Honestly, I really enjoy the NDP trainings and deployment.
Training time, I get to be exposed to more advance and sophiscated Medical equipments and casualty scenarios.

Deployment time, I really enjoy working with those other Medics, which I call them friends now. Especially the part Wen Xiang they all went to Dr. Cheong to persuade him of letting me go for my Air Supply concert, which clashed with one of my NDP date. It is only thru their persuation that Dr. Cheong finally agreed to let me go. I owe them a big meal now. Haha

Experience-wise, this NDP Medical cover may significantly enhance my medical profile, and aid in my application of the MOH Health Science Scholarship next year.
I've even planned to specialize in Emergency Medicine in the future.

It's been 6 months since I've resided in my present camp - Chong Pang.
Being a Medic of the Republic of Singapore Air Force, naturally I'll get to be attached to some Air Defence operations.

Trust me, deploying at roof tops with 360 degrees unblocked view and open air is 100 times better paying $30 dollars going in circles in an enclosed capsule called Singapore Flyer.

Did medical coverage for National Runway Cycling 2008.

Jointly organised by SAFRA, RSAF, and Singapore Sports Council, this year it witnessed an unprecedented turnout rate of 8000 participants.

Even though I'm from Air Force, this is my first time being at a real Aeroplane Runway. (Sembawang Airbase Airfield is for helicopters.)
Trust me, the runway is really damn big.

SiChuan Earthquake, Myanmar Cyclone Nargis

Its been many days since the two catastrophe descended on earth.

For those who didn't know, Myanmar was struck by a sudden Cyclone, while SiChuan, China, was hit by an earthquake of magnitude 7.8, the worst in the century.

According to latest google statistics, Myanmar Cyclone Toll has passed a devastating 22000.
SiChuan accumulated a toll passing 15000, with thousands still trapped under slabs of concrete debris.

Don't know how to explain this feeling.
Have been flipping newspaper everyday, updating myself on the latest news of the catastrophe, hoping that the Singapore Armed Forces Medical Corps will be activated in the humanitarian mission. Everytime I see the more footage on TV, the more I feel an inner calling, to help out in the medical arena.

Maybe that is the reason why I was destined to be a Medic Specialist.
Maybe that is the reason why I am to be a medical worker.

Enquired Staff Wayne about whether SAF will be involve in the humanitarian mission.
Apparently, Singapore, just like the other countries, do not have a clearence for Myanmar.
And for SiChuan, Singapore is too far from there.

May peace be bestowed to these countries.
May sufferings be relieved from these people.

Really hope to be part of the relief and humanitarian effort.

8 Days MC

On MC for 8 days for wisom tooth extraction. (All 4 of them, must have been too clever)

Big swell on my left jaw, but thankful that the entire process did not hurt at all.
(The most painful part was probably the venipuncture for intravenous infusion.)

First time in life wearing surgical gown. When enter the theatre, was surrounded by a group of Anesthetist. Was administered 100% O2, followed by general anesthesia via intravenous route.
Hand felt numb, but knocked out 5 seconds after it was administered.

Woke up at the Day Ward area, concussed, but knew that it was over.
The entire feeling was definitely unpleasant.

Was bleeding from the nose, accompanied with sore nose and sore throat.
They explained it was due to the Naso-endopharynx intubation, whereby they insert a tube through nose to throat (pharynx) to administer oxygen during the operation. (remember? the mouth is being operated on)
Gross
Keep sneezing out blood from nose, and spitting blood and mucus from mouth.

Have no control over jaw, which was supposedly due to the local anesthesia administered.
Tried playing with lips, which was kinda fun coz it felt like a unknown piece of meat on your body. There really wasn't any sensation, just like touching raw meat in a wet market.

Should be now more stupid than ever.

Dexamethasone (Steroidal anti-inflammatory)
Amoxycillin (Anti-biotic)
Metronidazole (Anti-biotic)
Doxycycline (Anti-biotic)
Etoricoxib (Analgesic)
Chlorexhidine (Anti-septic)

Gotta drink more Pro-biotic products such as Vitagen and Yogurts to replenish the 100billion soldiers (that's wad Vitagen claimed) in digestive tract, whom many will be killed accidentally by the sheer number of anti-biotic taken in.

A random reflection

Back from Exercise Rapid Phase 1, which lasted 5 days for me.

This exercise, perhaps, has been one of the most inspiring and enlightening one of all.

Something I realize,
modern civilization, media, and pop culture certainly has killed many of our senses.
My ears was deafen: it no longer hear what people have to say, what sound nature makes.
My eyes was blind: it no longer sees the truth that lies before me.
My mouth was useless: it no longer says praises, but splatters rubbish.
My soul was empty: it houses only desires, not virtues.

My spirit was not in harmony with Dao, and was unable to feel Oneness.

Perhaps the concept in the first place is wrong. I should not even be using the word 'I' and 'My', for I am not a separate individual, but a part of the Whole.

Felt peace and tranquility.
Maybe its the untouched natural and breathtaking sceneries from LFA.
The knolls, the beach, and sea, and hills, and natural vegetation.
Of course, this would not have been possible with a heart calm like tranquil water.

Enjoyed the harmony and innocence of pure human nature.
Perhaps its the absence of selfish desires.
Everyone in the exercise was simple, true and pure.
Had a lot of joy and laughters with those people.

Some call this feeling, Zen.
Some call it, in harmony with Dao.

Removed the song from the blog.
Open the ears and listen.
The wise hears the most melodious tune on Earth, the fools will hear deafening silence.

Removed the section of Likes and Dislikes from the blogger profile.
Starting to find it foolish to state likes and dislikes.
Once we stop having preferences, we will be in harmony with life, and everything will seem pleasant to the senses.

Medic Life

Realise its been quite long since I written anything quite sane.

Medical Centre life has been very fulfilling. Getting to do things I like everyday, as my vocation, is something I am very thankful for. During day time, get to play pingpong everyday, gym and run as I like, draw blood, learn guitar from Jeremy, play soccer
, wad more can i ask for?

Night-time in camp is even more fulfilling. Yes, i chose to stay-in during most of the days despite being a stay out personnel.

1. Transport. I save $3.30 and 90mins of travelling time everyday.

2. Peace. No tech-shit, laptop, blasting mp3. Trust me, I get hooked to my gadgets once homed.

3. Company. Neo, out of the greatest coincidence on earth, stays next bunk to me. My best SAF buddy, GR, stays-in also. Trust me, it's fun.

4. Time for myself. Learning to drive, learning guitar, playing ping pong.

5. I do have I-net and Hot shower in my medical centre. Life ain't so bad.

6. The famously famous Chong Pang Market and Food centre is located at a paper-clip-throw away. Around 20metres from my bunk? Trust me, I love to eat.

7. There's a jobless giant rat in my house that just doesn't disappear or die. Talk about gross..

Trust me. Stay-in is fun with the above terms, plus the fact that no one has rules or regulations over you.

Will be disappearing for quite a long time next week, covering Exercise Rapid from 7th May to 11th, followed by dental surgery to extract 4 wisdom tooth completed with 5 days MC.

Random issues:
1. My request to change department has been rejected by the MO.

2. Will be involved in NDP as a Medic Specialist providing medical cover.

3. Having a choice of country for overseas exercise. It's between Thailand, Australia, and South Africa. Really hoping to go south africa.
*imagine my joy when cwo of 18da approach me to ask me go Ex. bright fire @ South Africa. But i not sure if he's serious about asking me go.*

4. Forbidden Kingdom is nice. Liu Yi Fei is damn chio.

My Meimei had her 17th Birthday falling on 300408.
Feels really damn nice to see her grow up, from that little infant i used to cuddle in my arms, to the toddler who like to stick to me, den a little girl who i like to pull her hair and throw her around (yea i was abusive), and the primary school girl who always like to play Mummy in Jia Jia Jiu.
(I always end up as some weird creatures, such as a mandarin-speaking Panda kidnapped by her, or a gibberish speaking Baby even though i was easily twice her size, or a talking soft-toy crocodile.)
Thinking about it now, it was fun and stupid.

Celebration with Family - 14th April

Had another round of celebration for my birthday with my family.
Dad initially wanted to bring us to the Hainanese Steamboat at Gold Mile complex, which has a history of over 50 years, and also the last surviving Hainanese steamboat in Singapore (supposedly).
Shall not mention the shop name in case someone googles the shop and ends up at my blog. =S

While walking there, we happen to walk past this Steamboat shop called Zheng Zong Chong Qing Lao Huo Guo. My dad was fascinated at such China style steamboat and thus we decided to have steamboat there. ($18 per person...heart burn)

Did not take much photo since any steamboat is bound to look messy, and my hands will be too dirty most of the time to disgustingly touch my Digicam.

Had the Yuan Yang Guo, (Love Birds/Love Mandrine Duck Pot), which simply means there are two soups in one pot.

Although they declare they are authentic....and ma la enough bla bla bla... it is nowhere near authentic and ma la.
Real Ma La soup is suppose to have both Numbing, and also Spicy sensation on the tongue.
This soup is juz spicy.
Shall not grumble..

Baba and Mama happily eating steamboat, while mei mei is turned off throughout by the mere existence of some chao ah beng and ah lian sitting beside us.

Super long backdated entry!

7th April was my 20th birthday.
Grew 1 year older, and into my 2nd decade of my life.
And yea, I've been telling almost everybody how it is so freaking old, turning from the teens to the twenties. (I really suppose the word teenagers comes from the word TEN).
Gross.

Anyway, had some celebrations which I really appreciated, and hope to remember.

Part 1
Celebration with Li Mei aka Stella on 5th April 08
Venue: IMM - Ichiban Boshi

Went with Li Mei to IMM to celebration my birthday.
It's really super nice of her to take time off despite her uni exams, which is in April itself.

After rounds and rounds around IMM, we decided to settle with a Japanese meal at Ichiban Boshi, which we eventually had for 3 hours. Lolx

It's my first time eating Japanese Sukiyaki, and I really like it. Very much to the liking of my super-food-picky tongue.

Really appreciated Li Mei for the treat, though it feels very un-gentleman to receive a treat from a girl.

P.S. From the time we entire, till we leave the restaurant, it took 3 hours.

P.S: P.S: We took 45 minutes to order our first dish, which is a $1.90 Mini Cha-Soba.

P.S:P.S: We took 1 hour to order our 2nd item, which is 2 green tea.

P.S:P.S:P.S: We took 1hr 15mins to order our next few items, which is the main course itself.

P.S:P.S:P.S:P.S: Throughout our entire meal, the table behind us has witnessed 4 rounds of customers entering, ordering, finishing, and leaving the restaurant.

P.S:P.S:P.S:P.S:P.S: Throughout the first 1hour, the waiter has been waiting for us to order.
And throughout the next 1 hour, waiting for us to eat finish.
At the 3rd hour, he was probably wondering why we are still not leaving despite finishing our food.

Early morning, my Dad drove me to some cake shop not very near home to specially have me to select a birthday cake for myself.

I really think that the idea of family or a bunch of friends buying you cake, is a really nice way, and it shows that they really care.
Blehx..not good with words.

After much selection around the cakeshops, I've found one that really fitted all my likings.

1. I love Chocolate...and is super Chocoholic.

2. I love Blueberry...so much that 80% of the Donuts I buy are Blueberry.

3. Strawberries? Of coz I love Strawberries, the fruit...
NOT those artificial flavours...
which till now still kept me wondering how they ever tasted like real Strawberry.

4. Cake must be Chio.

And thus, I found this legendary masterpiece.
The Baker must have known that it is my birthday.

Had the 4th round of birthday celebration with Jun Han, another ancient dinosauric friend since 2003.

We first went to Raffles City, whereby we had Donuts at J.Co, followed by some unique and tasty Viet-western hybrid food at Baguette.

As the shop name tells..
Baguette -The Viet Inspired Deli

This is a Vietnam drink, called Chahn.
Supposedly to be Lemon Juice with Soda water, added with a Plum.

And this is the Hybrid!!
Like Subway but ingredients is all Vietnam-styled.
Fresh carrot, cucumbers, marinated-ham slabs, completed with some sour viet-styled sauce and served with a freshly baked bread.
It's surprisingly tasty though.

Afterwhich, we went to Marina Square to have a meal at this restaurant called Hot Pot Culture.
The concept is supposedly Buffet, but each person gets his own Pot of soup.
Anyway we had the set which cost $7.80++ each instead of buffet.

Jun Han had the Thai Tom Yam soup, while I had this Korean Kimchi soup.

Took half day off to join Clement in this supposedly very-belated birthday celebration.
All MSK's fault, thus he wasn't able to join Shiwei and Jun Guan for the previous celebration.

Stupid MSK....deserve to be burnt for causing so much trouble for SAF.

Had a light lunch at Nihon Mura (again, again, again......)
but this time I managed to try something I've been wanting to try all along.

Trust me, the Asparagus in each piece is holy big bunch.

Didn't taste that fantastic afterall. It was okay...

Trust me, the green tea really has a very special flavour that is not found in anywhere else.

Since I'm a NEBO-ian (you know? Nebo club? All thanks to Jingkai), I was entitled to buy tickets at $6.00, and also entitled to a packet of free popcorns since its my Birthday month.

Yea. We chose this random show (Definitely, Maybe) coz there really wasn't any nice show or Blockbusters showing. And this show is supposely by the creators or writers of Notting Hill, Brigade Jone's Diary, and some other nice shows la.

Turns out its quite not bad.
Light-hearted romance-mystery movie.

Yup.
And for all these, would really like to thank Clement,
to take time to celebrate my birthday despite his limited off time due to MSK..

Went for my younger sister's concert, Mia Musica yesterday.
*she's dancing Modern Jazz dance, machiam Chicago tt type*

BEFORE

Before stands for Before the concert la. Like duh~
Anyway, reached Cityhall at 2.30pm (concert is like..7.30?), which means I'm freaking early.
Wanted to go to cityhall area to find for any form of ULTIMATE COCKROACH REPELLER.

Note that I mentioned REPELLER, NOT KILLER.
Gosh, can't stand those Sheltox or Baygon. Kill already so wad? The freaking dead cockroach will still haunt you, and the insecticide smell lingers.

It all started on Friday night......

Sleeping damn deep....

suddenly felt something crawling across my body...

"Shit, i think its a cockroach.... but nvm la... cockroach never crawl past a human twice..."

slept... half hour later...

SOMETHING CRAWL ACROSS MY BODY AGAIN!

F**KING HELL. NEVER DIE BEFORE IS IT!?

I freaked out and jumped towards a corner of my bed, trying to see what bug exactly it is.

But it's so dark i dun see a shit. Jumped down the bed and went to sleep with my brother. Abandoned my bed.

Woke up in morning, and looked at my abandoned bed.
Darn it, the ultra brave cockroach is sleeping soundly and happily on my comfortable bed.
I look at it, it look at me (ewww), and it started limping towards the corner of bed. (sorry i woke you up, xiao qiang)
My brother ended its torment with a Sheltox, sprayed on the corner of my bed. Creepy

Wait. Did i mentioned that it was limping?
Gosh, i must have crushed one of its leg while rolling on the bed the previous night.
And tata!!!

Immediately when I reached the Basement, (wanted to go to Cold Storage to find), something ultra fragrant Donut smell lingered in the air.

Attracted by the smell, I queued up for around 10mins and had these 2 Donuts.

2nd March - LAN, L - Change The World, Nihon Mura

Early Sunday morning, went to Dhoby Gaut to meet my other 8 Medics for LAN.
*lolx...we are already seeing each others 5 days per week, and we're meeting on sunday for LAN. Dotx*

Played Dota WTFARDM mode which was damnnnn hilarious la.
Too bad I went off early to join Junguan & clement for movie.

Specially booked movie at 4.15pm so that we can get to seat at The Grand Cathay Theatre.
And i really mean the special theatre, which is one and only one in singapore.
The Grand Cathay Theatre.

Managed to secretly take a photo of the interior design of it. As you can see, it has a very grand design.
Observe the golden rims with victorian engravements.
The theatre screen itself is curved, instead of the usual flat screens, supposedly for better visual stuffs.
Sound system is THX certified and u can really feel the powerful sound.
The screen supposedly supports full digital film.

Afterwhich we went to Nihon Mura at B1. (supposedly stands for Japan Village)
Honestly this restaurant is really valued-for-money.
Each plate of 2 sushi goes only for $0.99 cents.
(Not $1.99, mr. sakae. Not $1.90, mrs ichiban or ms fiesta, whicheva u prefer)

Blehx. now probably you'll think such cheap sushi should be in a ubberly chui restaurant.

1. We are slack when we are doing Medic cover duty at units. There's seriously nothing to do.

2. You think we are slack. Coz when you see us, we are doing medic cover at units.

Additional Info: Pray that you see us slack. When you see that we're busy, you're probably half-doomed.

Myth:

1. When you don't see us, we are probably in the medical center.
2. Medical Center = Our office
3. Office = Work
4. Work = Busy
5. Busy = not slack

Fact: We do carry stretchers.

Not trying to Hao lian anything or what. But it juz very pissing when some Warrants or Officers starts treating Medics like we're Hobbits from Bandage Club or some similar CCA.

5. In outfield, the Medic is bound to have something that can cure you.

Apparently according to some soldiers, they thought that we have an entire collection of drugs inside our big pouch with a Red Cross. Rubbish la. We at most only have Panadols with us la. Grrr....

Plus, by the way, Medics are not Doctors. We don't diagnosed, nor prescribe drugs.

The standard MOP doesn't even have Cetrimide, Gauze, Sterile water, nor Parrifin Gauze.
So we Medics always Tzeng (modify) our own MOP.

We do pack fieldpack, and get involved in Standby Force juz like how others do.
And we do go outfield, and feed the mosquitoes just like the rest.

This song is special as it reminds me of my days back in SMTI. I still remember distinctly the feeling of tranquility and peace this song brings me during a Saturday morning during Sentry duty. (which is basically the entire song without Jay's voice. lolx) In fact, this song clocked a playback record of 91 times within that Saturday itself, and 182 time within 2 weeks.

Went for Alumni Band practice on sat at CSS. Ha. It's been super long time since I last played my Horn. The feeling of being back into glory is super great la.

Being able to perform, once again, on stage is one of my wish. Being in NS for so long, I really have lost touch with my interest, so much that I almost forgot that Horn-playing is one of the thing that once kept me alive, something that I did as a CCA since 1995 till 2004. I can't really remember wad triggered me to pick it up again.

Perhaps it was Deon, who regularly updates me about the life in SAF Band and Bing Ying, who made me got in touch with classical music and choir again. Blehx

Well, anyway, if everything goes well, including my Medical center duty schedule, I will be performing once again, at the Singapore Conference Hall on 26th Feb 2008 =)

Went to Ichiban Sushi Restaurant at IMM after alumni band practice with Alicia, Ambrose, and Amy. Had lotsa fun. Heee

Went for a shopping spree with them at IMM after our lunching.

X'mas Celebration @ Faber Crest

Went Clement's house for our X'mas celebration for this year, along with JG & SW. Was greeted with a feast of food, mostly done by Clement and his mum, who woke up early in the morning to buy all the ingredients. (apparently clement didn't tell me the food names, so I shall once again name them myself. wahaha)

Had treasure-hunting in the house, planned by Clement, to hunt for our treasure. And of coz, the treasure is our X'mas gifts.

(*Clement was so frantic that we'll mess up his house and break things, that most of the time he end up giving us the answers to each clues instead! Darn farni la)

Jun Guan's prezzie by us is a Binoculars with 10x Magnificantion. Hope that he can enjoy the stars and scenaries while doing his duties in Tekong and Tengah.

Neo Neo got a 100% cotton pilow from Paris from me, coz Chong Pang's pillow sux and stink, enormous time. Plus a 20 dollar Popular voucher from JG.

Clement got a Mandarin love song CD. Hope he enjoys it.

After an entire afternoon of Treasure-hunting and crap-talking, we had dinner @ Clementi from a our favourite famous BBQ stall. It was also a pleasant dinner treat from Neo Neo.
